This is the first video project ever written, co-produced and directed by me. I was only one month into my Diploma of Screen & Media (Film & TV Production).
When I was given the opportunity to pitch an idea for an anti-bullying ad produced by Stop Bullying Now Gold Coast, I knew from the get-go that I wanted to create something meaningful and authentic.
Bullying is a real issue – not a fiction. Having experienced bullying in middle school, I don’t have all the answers to stop this.
It didn't feel right to make up an overly dramatised scenario to try bringing awareness to it.
This is why I decided to capture the real testimonials of high school students on this topic - from the bullied, bystander and most importantly the bully perspective.
I believe in the power of kindness and self-awareness.
There are no words to describe the connection I made with these kids. This experience will forever be engraved in my heart. Without their trust, this project would have not been possible.
